The Streetmasters Staff

Fred Rau has described the Streetmasters Motorcycle Workshop instructors as "the highest-caliber imaginable." We've assembled a team of "master instructors" for you to learn from. These dedicated instructors, track marshals and staff are experienced motorcycle riders and well-respected training professionals with first-hand knowledge of proven riding techniques and skills. Our team is overseen by lead instructor, Walt Fulton.

Nancy on Hwy 99, Oregon Nancy Foote, Streetmasters owner and Track Marshall, is an avid motorcyclist who has been riding street bikes for over 25 years. She enjoys riding backroads and byways on any of her four bikes: a Honda CB-1, two Honda CBR400RRs and a Kawasaki ZRX-1200. She has picked up the moniker, "Queen of the Backroads," because of her adventuresome spirit and desire to follow the thinnest and squigglist roads on the map. She says a satisfying day is at least 300 miles in length and she averages about 20,000 miles a year. Nancy is a contributor to Motorcycle Consumer News.

Walt on the Horse Thief Mile Walt Fulton is a recognized name in motorcycling. A former three-time winner at Daytona and team racer for Harley-Davidson, Kawasaki and Suzuki, he was a featured rider in the documentary "On Any Sunday." He is a BMW Legends racer, a professional motorcycle accident reconstruction expert, motorcycle journalist and a private riding instructor. He has worked as an editor for Cycle Guide, Cycle World and Motorcyclist magazines and a contributor and the performance tester for Motorcycle Consumer News. He has logged over a million miles on the road and track.

Dennis on the Horse Thief Mile Dennis Pegelow, Streetmasters Instructor, has been riding for over 40 years. He road raced in the 1970's and 80's (starting on a Kawasaki 750 and then a TZ700) and is also a long-time dirt rider with two top ten finishes in national enduros. He operated DP Safety Schools from 1990 to 2004 and has also taught track schools for auto drivers. He has toured Europe, the Isle of Man, Alaska, Canada and Baja -- both on and off road.

Mike at the Alaskan border Mike Douglas, Streetmasters Instructor, has been riding since 1986 and has logged well over 500,000 miles in 49 states, 10 Canadian provinces, Mexico and even Israel. A former MSF Chief Instructor, Mike is currently part owner of JBJ Cycles, an independent service and accessories shop in Santa Ana, CA. Mike's stable includes a 1989 GL1500 with over 307,000 miles, a 2001 GL1800 with over 70,000 and a 2000 Victory V92C with over 28,000 miles.

Rocky on the Horse Thief Mile Steven (Rocky) Miller has been riding since 1968. A former motorcycle police officer, he currently trains want-to-be motor officers at the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Academy Emergency Vehicle Operations Center in San Bernardino, CA.. In his spare time he teaches basic motorcycle courses on the Central Coast.

Steve Hall has worked as a Streetmasters Instructor since 2009. He started riding in the dirt at age 10 and moved to the street at 14 1/2 (yes, is Las Vegas it was legal)and has been riding for 48yrs. He's ridden and owned 40 plus different motorcycles; he spent many years on Honda Gold Wings before he discovered BMW in the 90s. He's spent time at our own Dennis Peglow's DP Safety School and Freddie Spencer's Level I and II sport bike classes. He and his wife Peggy have toured much of the US as well as the European Alps. He has approximately 850,000 miles on motorcycles with over 300,000 miles on BMWs. His current stable includes two BMWs, a 2004 R1150RT and a 2010 R1200GSA.

Paul and his BMW S near MammothPaul Palika, Streetmasters Instructor, has been riding since 1967 and has also logged well over 500,000 miles in 49 states. Paul is a former Marine (Gunnery Sargent), a member of the Iron Butt Association, an MSF RiderCoach and a long-time Instructor with Streetmasters. He is also a BMW rider and owns an R1100S, R1150RT and a classic R65.

Doug Harmon, Streetmasters Instructor, has been riding for 28 years. He started riding in the dirt, got a street bike as soon as he was old enough to be legal. He's gone from sport bikes to cruisers to touring bikes. He's the director of ground safety for Vandenberg AFB.

Scott Alguire, Streetmasters Instructor, has spent most of his life on two wheels. He raced mountain bikes for many years until he figured out that pedaling was a lot of work. As well as being a motorcycle instructor, he's Chapter Educator for his Gold Wing group and was California District GWRRA Individual of the year for 2005.

Phiz = Phil and LizPhil Bahler, Track Marshall, has been riding on two wheels for over 45 years. His first motorcycle was a Yamaha 90 Enduro. After graduating to a Honda 350 he found it necessary to take a short hiatus while he raised two boys. Phil got the fever again and purchased a 1993 Goldwing GL1500 in 1994. His next two bikes have also been Goldwings. He currently owns a 2004 GL1800 in his favorite color - red. Phil has participated in ERC classes, CPR and first aid thru his affiliation with GWRRA Chapter CA1R in Southern California. Phil has also taken two Streetmasters Workshops with a renewed respected for the road. He has ridden over 225k miles. Liz Adams (Phil’s wife), Streetmasters Mom, has had her motorcycle license since 1996. She briefly owned a 750 Yamaha Virago but would rather be a co-rider on Phil’s Goldwing. Liz has also taken an ERC class as well as holding first aid and CPR certifications thru GWRRA Chapter CA1R. She has approximately 100k miles under her buns.
